Evening Talk @ Parakkuni (Ward-10)

In a dedicated effort to combat social isolation among the elderly, the GramInn Non-profit Charitable Trust organized its second ‘Evening Talk’ session for senior citizens in Ward 10, Parakkunni, on March 28, 2026. The event, a key initiative under GramInn’s Project HEAL, focused on the “Elder Care and Well-being” pillar, aiming to support marginalized members of the Panamaram Panchayat. The session brought together 22 residents aged 60 and above for an evening of reflection and community building. Volunteers kicked off the program with spirited ice-breaking activities, followed by a guided self-introduction segment where participants shared insights into their lives. While many expressed a strong sense of personal fulfilment, a recurring theme emerged regarding modern family dynamics. Several participants noted that while their grandchildren bring them immense joy, a “communication gap” often exists with their children, who struggle to find dedicated time for them due to busy schedules. To promote mental agility, the group engaged in competitive games of Tambola, displaying remarkable energy. The cultural highlight of the evening saw volunteer Ms. Archana lead the group in singing and dancing, encouraging the seniors to relive cherished memories. The evening concluded with a collective request from the participants for more frequent gatherings. GramInn reaffirmed its commitment to providing these vital social outlets, ensuring that the elders of Ward 10 remain active, connected, and valued.
