Summer Smiles Brings Joy and Mental Health Awareness to Koolivayal Children

GRAMINN Non-profit Organization lit up the summer for children from Koolivayal Ward 22 of Panamaram Grama Panchayat with its vibrant “Summer Smiles” program. Held on May 12, 2026, the event blended fun activities, body-healing exercises, and reflective sessions to highlight the vital link between mental and physical health.

Under the HEAL project, GRAMINN’s initiative to promote holistic wellness across Panamaram’s diverse communities; the day featured interactive games like trust-building relays and mindfulness yoga, creative art therapy for emotional expression, and group discussions on managing stress and building resilience. Over 40 children participated, discovering simple tools to nurture their inner strength amid everyday challenges.

Reena Varghese, Director of GRAMINN, led the event alongside dedicated volunteers Ms. Aleena T J, Ms. Shifa Nezrin, Ms. Shedha, and Chandana S. “Mental health is as essential as physical health, yet often overlooked, especially in our rural sectors,” said Reena. “Through Summer Smiles, we’re empowering these young minds to smile brighter and face life with confidence.”

The program reached children from tribal and marginalized families, fostering community awareness and inclusion. GRAMINN plans to expand HEAL initiatives with more workshops, partnering with local panchayat bodies and schools.
