As part of its ongoing efforts to promote the well-being and social inclusion of senior citizens, GramInn Charitable Trust organized an Evening Talk for Elderly Persons at Kundala, Ward 1, on 16th June 2026 under Project HEAL (Holistic Empowerment through Accessible Local Care). The programme brought together twelve elderly participants for an enriching and heartwarming session focused on connection, self-expression, and emotional well-being.
The gathering provided a welcoming space where participants could share their life stories, voice their concerns and aspirations, and engage in meaningful interactions with fellow community members. The session was facilitated by Ms. Chandana S., Staff Member of GramInn, and Ms. Aleena, Volunteer, who guided the activities and discussions throughout the programme.
The event commenced with a self-introduction activity, during which participants introduced themselves and reflected on some of the most memorable moments of their lives. This exercise not only sparked joyful conversations but also fostered a strong sense of belonging and mutual appreciation among the group.
An engaging ball-passing activity encouraged participants to openly express their needs, hopes, and concerns in a comfortable and interactive manner. The activity created opportunities for active listening, empathy, and meaningful dialogue, helping participants feel heard and valued.
A guided meditation session was also conducted to promote relaxation, mindfulness, and emotional balance. The calming exercise offered participants a chance to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves, contributing positively to their mental and emotional well-being.
The programme was graced by Ward Member Mr. Jafar, who appreciated GramInn’s commitment to organizing initiatives that support and uplift elderly community members. He highlighted the importance of such programmes in fostering social connectedness and improving quality of life among senior citizens.
One particularly touching moment emerged when a participant shared that it had been a long time since she had stepped outside her home to participate in a community event. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude and happiness for the opportunity to interact with others, reconnect with her community, and be part of such a meaningful gathering.
The session concluded with participants expressing their appreciation for the initiative and requesting similar programmes in the future. Their positive feedback underscored the importance of community-based interventions that promote social engagement, emotional well-being, and a sense of purpose among elderly individuals.
Through programmes like these, GramInn continues to create spaces where every individual feels valued, connected, and empowered, reinforcing the belief that healthy communities are built through compassion, inclusion, and meaningful human connections.
