The busy Kozhikode New Bus Stand became a lively place of hope on June 26, 2026, as GramInn joined hands with the Kozhikode Corporation, DLSA Kozhikode, IMA Kozhikode Branch, and Don Bosco Institutions Mampetta, Mukkam to launch DrugKick@2K26. The campaign was organized to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It was created to teach students and the public about the dangers of drug abuse and to encourage a healthy, drug-free life.
The program started at 10:30 AM with a warm welcome from Fr. Martin Augustin, Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Institutions Mampetta, Mukkam. The event’s chief guest was Mr. O. Sadashivan, the Mayor of Kozhikode Corporation. Another special guest was Mr. Biju M.C., a senior judge and secretary of DLSA Kozhikode. Both leaders talked about how important it is to protect young people through education and community action. Other important leaders, including Dr. K. Sandhya Kurup President of IMA Kozhikode Branch, Ms. Reena Varghese, Director of GramInn Non- Profit Organization, Fr. Shino Joy Administrator of Don Bosco Institutions Mampetta, Mukkam, and Dr. Ranjith P. Secretary of IMA Kozhikode Branch, also shared words of support.
To officially start the campaign, Mayor O. Sadashivan did something very exciting—he kicked a football into a goalpost. This act symbolized everyone working together to kick drugs out of society. After that, the Mayor wrote a powerful anti-drug message on the campaign wall. Soon, the other guests and many people from the public joined in, kicking the football and signing the wall to show their support.
The team also set up a health camp right inside the busy bus stand to check people for alcohol use disorders using a simple test called AUDIT. It was amazing to see that 209 people voluntarily took the test to check on their health. The event was a huge success, showing that when a community comes together, we can build a safer and drug-free future.
