GramInn (A Home for Community Growth) successfully conducted a Mental Health Awareness Session for women at Parakkuni (Ward 10), Panamaram Gram Panchayat, on 12 July 2026 as part of Project HEAL (Holistic Empowerment through Accessible Local Care). The programme was held from 4:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. and witnessed the active participation of 19 women from the community.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Chandana S., Programme Coordinator, and Ms. Aleena T. J., Volunteer, with the objective of improving mental health awareness and encouraging positive approaches to emotional well-being. Participants engaged in interactive discussions on emotional regulation, stress management, and healthy coping strategies, creating a supportive environment where they could openly share their experiences.
As part of the programme, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) screening tool was administered to assess participants’ anxiety levels. The screening results will support the planning of appropriate follow-up interventions under Project HEAL, ensuring that individuals requiring additional support receive timely guidance and care.
The participants appreciated the initiative, describing it as both informative and meaningful. Many shared that it was the first time they had attended a mental health awareness programme and expressed their interest in participating in similar sessions in the future. They also suggested incorporating practical relaxation techniques that can be practiced at home to further strengthen mental well-being.
Through Project HEAL, GramInn remains committed to promoting mental health awareness, early identification of mental health concerns, and building resilient communities by ensuring that mental well-being becomes an integral part of everyday life.
